Causes

#1 Cause: Microorganisms, mostly bacteria, from women.
BV, or Bacterial Vaginosis is fairly common in women, and is just one of the types of infections they may have and not notice or care. The most likely cause of prostatitis is infection from a sexual partner.

The second one would be infection from all other sources.

Bacteria, parasites, and fungi that can cause chronic prostatitis include:
  • Chlamydia trachomatis
  • Gonorrhea (Neisseria gonorrhoeae)
  • Escherichia coli
  • Enterococcus faecalis (aka Streptococcus group D)
  • Staphyolococci (Staphylococcus aureus, haemolyticus, epidermidis, etc. )
  • Streptococcus group B
  • Enterobacter aerogenes
  • Klebsiella pneumoniae
  • Morganella morganii
  • Uraplasma urealyticum
  • Mycoplasma
  • Trichomonas vaginalis (parasite)
